Timing Is Everything

How much time it usually takes to set up your life insurance.

One of the most common questions about life cover is how long does it take to set up a policy? The timing it takes from when you apply to when you are covered can vary depending on many factors.

The time taken to complete your policy will depend on the finer details: the amount of cover, your age, and your medical history. For example, the greater the amount of cover you require and the older you are, leads to bigger risk for the insurer and generally longer for underwriters to determine your premiums.

Existing health problems add time, as your GP will need to be contacted. Sometimes you might need a medical, but don’t be alarmed – these are just standard health and fitness tests and are non-invasive.

In many instances, people are accepted straight away for life cover, without the needs for tests or further clarification; if this is the case you may find after completing your application, your policy is in place that day.

The best and quickest way to get the ball rolling is to speak to an adviser – someone in the know who can guide you through the types of cover available and help you decide what is best for you and your family.
